[Openal] alsoft.conf and alsa

Hi, I'm abit stumped at the moment with a few questions about OpenAL
Soft.
1) With alsamixer I am able to specify "Channel Mode" is there a way to
set this via OpenAL Soft? maybe in the config file or programatically? 
2) How do I specify a different alsa output device I've created?
alcOpenDevice seems to want a one of the devices listed when calling
"openal-info" (output shown below) but this list doesn't contain my
virtual device(and its plugin)? I'm likely misunderstanding what needs
to do here any input is appreated.

BTW. I'm using openal-soft-1.4.272 and version 2.6.21-7 of the linux
kernel
