Does the problem occur on a different OpenAL device (e.g "Generic Software"
from wrap_oal.dll)?  Are you setting different parameters on this
particular sound effect (e.g. a low-pass filter, or reverb send, etc ...).
What is the format of the wavefile (e.g bits per sample, frequency, etc
...)?
