I agree that the "X-Fi" in the name is confusing. In the case of the Xmod
it refers to the CMSS-3D and Crystalizer Effects.
If you laptop has a PCMCIA slot then the Audigy 2 ZS Notebook will do the
trick, or if you have an ExpressCard slot there is the X-Fi Xtreme Audio
Notebook. Alternatively there is a USB based X-Fi Surround 5.1 that also
supports EAX 4.0 features.

Daniel, thank you for your response. I believe this thread is going to help
others misled (like myself) by the "X-FI" part of X-MOD. I now stand
enlightened. I was beginning to think my code was to blame...I didn't know
that to do & even had a "suicidal" attempt to try and port the whole
project
to VC++ ... in hopes of a miracle.
Sadly, I'm only own a laptop. I've seen Audigy 2 ZS also comes in the
Notebook version, so there is still hope...
