Hi,
If you are using the Windows platform you should download the OpenAL SDK
from
http://developer.creative.com/articles/article.asp?cat=1&sbcat=31&top=38&aid=45
It contains some extra documentation (in addition to the AL
Specification) and quite a few bits of example code (including audio
capture).
OpenAL doesn't monitor the amplitude of the recorded samples, so you will
need to do this part yourself. A simple RMS level can be found by
computing the average of the sum of squared sample levels across some
defined duration. You will probably need some tuning (and allow for some
tolerance) to cope with noisy microphones and background noise though.

Hello guys, i was trying to keep the microphone working and start capturing
when somebody talked. i know we can get information about frequency,number
of samples,etc but i dont know how to get the amplitude of the samples..
I'm new in openal and i think it is dificult to get material for studying.
how would i learn more about openal?
