I'm guessing you're going to be disappointed.  I've not heard about any 
publications about the open-source OpenAL implementations (OpenAL-Soft, 
the current leading software implementation is pretty new).  At the same 
time, I don't think Creative has published much about the details of 
their native hardware implementation either.  There are several 
documents at http://developer.creative.com that you can look at, 
though.  Maybe you'll find what you need there.

The OpenAL specification is at http://www.openal.org , but it doesn't 
sound like you're looking for that kind of information.
