[Openal] Specifics on Spatialization?

Hi,

I'm using OpenAL to create auditory environments for research in an  
auditory perception lab.  I would like to learn more about precisely  
how the basic (i.e. without using EFX) spatialization of sound is  
accomplished (i.e. which localization cues are rendered?  Phase lag?  
Arrival time? Intensity?).  In particular, is there a published source  
that I could cite in upcoming research papers?
