[Openal] No OpenAL devices found for SigmaTel integrated audio

The computer is a Dell Dimension 9200 using SigmaTel integrated audio.
It correctly plays sounds in applications and games.  I installed the
latest OpenAL version available (summer 2007).  The device enumeration
extension is available and reports 0 devices.  If I still attempt to
query "Generic Software" or "Generic Hardware", alcOpenDevice returns
NULL.  I don't get any OpenAL errors.

 

Any ideas?
