[Openal] Filter problems

Hi Luis,
When you are using the "Generic Hardware" device, the EFX Extension
essentially sits on top of the best (highest numbered) version of EAX
supported by the hardware (2, 3, 4 or 5). I think I'm correct in saying
that only EAX versions 4 & 5 support filtering effects on stereo (and
multi-channel) buffers (although I don't think it would be impossible for
an EAX 2 / 3 device to support this feature too). This does mean that you
will require an SB Audigy or SB X-Fi card to get this feature in hardware.

Re: [Openal] Filter problems
Hi Dan,
thanks for pointing that out. Looked into that and yes, it works with mono
sounds only. Is this intentional? I mean, using the Generic Software device
I can get filtering on stereo sounds, and I would like to reproduce this
behaviour using Generic Hardware. Is there any way I could do this?

Hi Luis,
It seems unlikely to me that the length of the sound would make any
difference because internally everything is being streamed to multiple
DS3D Buffers anyway (so the length of the original sound makes no
difference). Are the longer sounds in a different format, e.g stereo or
multi-channel perhaps?

[Openal] Filter
problems
Hi,
I'm trying to get Filters to work in my sound code, and I've had no
problems using the "Generic Software" device, but when I set up the
"Generic Hardware" one, it works for short sounds, but when I play some
longer sound (>=10 seconds) I get no filtering at all. Just tried this in
a C-Media 8738, latest drivers I think, haven't tried any other card yet.
Has anyone ever had this issue? Is there anything I could do to solve
this? (other than sticking to Generic Software, that is)
Thanks in advance.
