[Openal] freealut does not compile on my machine.

Greetings,

When compiling freealut I get an error:
alutInit.c: In function 'alutExit':
alutInit.c:150: error: wrong type argument to unary exclamation mark

the erroneous line is:
  if (!alcCloseDevice (device))

that is the function returns the wrong data type.
I didn't find that function anywhere so I guess the problem is in a
header file but I have no idea where it might be.

I tried on other Gentoo versions I have and had the same experience.
I also tried to compile the package from
http://www.openal.org/openal_webstf/downloads/freealut-1.1.0.tar.gz
