[Openal] 7-speaker sound with Mac for auditory research?

Hi,

My thanks to everyone who has provided help here in the past.   
Following your advice, I'm trying to port a bunch of windows auditory  
experiments we do in our lab over to mac by using an external  
firewire interface rather than a sound card.   I've got an M-Audio  
Firewire 410 and Creative S750 speakers plugged into chs 1-8 on the  
back of the interface.  The AudioMIDI utilitity can send sounds to  
every channel fine.  It is set to 7.1.  We've got some OpenAL code  
that should be using all the speakers, but the back two seem not be  
be used.  Also the example application that we downloaded (with the  
monkey and the electricity and the car etc) is not using the back two  
speakers.

Any suggestions?
