[Openal] Sound card

Hello!

I'm going to develop a sound recording and rendering (ie. both output AND
input) application that will use VoIP to transmit/send sound over the net.
I'm going to write the application in Java using JOAL to speed up the
capturing of raw byte frames (java sound beeing to slow). The application
will run on Linux, and I am looking for the optimal Soundcard for this
usage. Moreover we need to supply tree such sound cards pr. PC.  I only need
mono sound in/out.

I know there probably are plenty of such sound cards on the market, but
maybe you guys could hint me on a good professional card (not too expencive,
but not necessarily the cheapest around) that suppors Linux.

And yes, I have read
http://www.alsa-project.org/alsa-doc/index.php?vendor=All#matrix, but it's
just that there are so many cards. I'm drowning in info. I just want to pick
the optimum...
