Hi
Stereo files won't work as expected when you position them. Think it through
- when you play a mono file in a game the sound will be different out of
each speaker depending on where the listener is. Now stereo files already
have different sounds out of each speaker (eg in a song you may have the
vocals out of one speaker the guitar out of the other etc) so placing them
in the world will mean openal and any other sound system will not know what
to play out of each speaker depending on the listener.

cheers
