Will there be some official support from Creative for the Audigy series?
Currently there is the emu10k1 driver in ALSA, but AFAIK it is not from
Creative and I am not sure how complete it is. At least I haven't seen
such nice things as the calibration utility, an EAX panel, etc.

An X-Fi-only solution would be rather bad IMHO: I've just made a
complete HW upgrade and decided explicitly *against* an X-Fi, because
there is no Linux support at the moment (bought an Audigy 4 instead).
Upgrading my sound HW again in a few months because of a better Linux
support is not really an option and would be ridiculous.

Comparing this to NVIDIA: The support for Windows and Linux is almost
identical (there were even some short periods of time when the Linux
drivers were newer than the Windows ones), and they support even ancient
boards on all platforms. Let's hope that Creative is heading into the
same direction...

Cheers,
