There will be a Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi installer similar to what 
NVIDIA does for Linux graphics drivers -- it will be a proprietary 
binary blob with a shim to interface to the user's kernel.  In terms of 
features, the binaries installed will have most of the same 
functionality of the Windows drivers and application set -- playback, 
recording, mixer, synthesis, EAX/EFX, etc.  In terms of APIs, these 
hardware-accelerated features will be exposed using ALSA and OpenAL.
