There is a reverb package in LADSPA (http://www.ladspa.org) I have also
come across brutefir (http://www.ludd.luth.se/~torger/brutefir.html) as
a speedy FIR filter done in software. I haven't not used any of these
though, nor do I know if they are suitable for any inclusion into a
driving simulation.
