I'm fairly certain these are kernel bugs and not OSS backend issues,
fwiw. The people that note "everything else I have works fine" are
frequently using ALSA for everything but this.

If I had a good test case system, I could track it better...for example,
if Quake 3 (OSS only) works but OpenAL doesn't, I'd be wrong and there'd
be some codepath we could choose instead.
