Hi Niklas,

You can quite correct - EAX4.0Emulated should be available (via the
"Generic Hardware" or "Generic Software" devices) on any soundcard that
supports EAX 2.0 (or better).

The nForce does have its own AL implementation - so if you are using this
directly, then you will not find this extension, as that implementation
only knows about its own capabilities (EAX 2.0).   Could this explain what
you are seeing ?

I was under the impression that as long as a sound card supported EAX2.0
or greater, EAX4.0Emulated would always be supported through the unified
EAX layer in OpenAL.

However, I've now found a sound card (NVIDIA nForce) that has the EAX2.0
extension, but not EAX4.0Emulated. Is this normal? Does this mean that I
have to support a 2.0 fallback path? I thought the whole point of the
EAX Unified layer was that I wouldn't need to provide a fallback path
for 2.0 cards.
