[Openal] (OT) synth libs for linux

Hello list.

Just wondering if anyone knew of any linux libraries for synthesizing
sound. Or at least something that plays an audio file and tells you in
real time info about spectral content, amplitude, etc.

Any info is greatly appreciated.
