[Openal] Clicks in OpenALdemo on vaio

Hello everyone,

We are planning to use jOAL or OAL to develop a game.
However I am having problems even getting the standard OpenALdemo to run
smoothly on my laptop.
When I play the first test I hear quite frequent but unevenly spaced
clicks as the sound file plays.
The same thing happens in the Xldemo.

Has anyone else had this sort of problem?
Is there a minumum spec for OpenAL?
Are there any known compatibility issues?

I am using winXP pro on a new sony vaio pcg-v505cp (1.6 pentium-M).
The soundcard/driver seems to be a yamaha ac-xg version 6.13.10.3157
