[Openal-devel] OS X spatialization algorithm and 8-speakers

Hi,
Is there any way to select from the spatialization algorithms available under OS X? According to the following link, there are a number of them supported, and I don't mind breaking cross-platform compatibility. http://developer.apple.com/technotes/tn2004/tn2112.html
Last time I posted here I was asking about 8-channel audio w/ OpenAL under Leopard. I wasn't getting rendering to some of the speakers, and was told to file a bug report. I've done so, and I got a response saying to use rear-surround 7.1; Unfortunately 7.1 rear surround won't work for my purposes. Does anyone know if the 3dMixer unit is the limiting factor, or if it is something to do with the OpenAL implementation? If I drop down to the Core Audio level and use the 3DMixer unit directly, should I expect to get 8-channel audio working?
Thanks!
Andrew.
