Hi.

Thanks for the patch. :) I'm not sure I want to add an aRts backend though, 
since KDE dropped it for 4.0 and it's not well suited to responsive playback 
(the SI's aRts backend was actually removed from the SVN version because it 
was quite useless and the maintanence wasn't worth it).

ESD I'll consider though, if anyone has any opinions on it. AFAIK it's like 
the Gnome version of aRts, but not quite as bad. Still, I think using ALSA or 
OSS or one of them directly is a better choice.
