[Openal-devel] Alternative Linux version

Hey, Chris.  Haven't heard from you in a while.  I see you've been busy  :-)

I know you said you just did this for fun, but do you think this might 
be a first step in unifying the two code bases?

Did you implement the router as well?  It would be cool to be able to 
pick from multiple implementations (like Creative's new native X-Fi 
driver for Linux, if I can ever get it to work).  My guess is you didn't 
just because this is the first cut and there are differences in the 
shared library issues, but it might be something to think about.

If this does get more serious (which I'm not at all opposed to, we both 
know the state of the SI), I would still want to support all of the 
backends we had before.  I'm sure this will greatly complicate things, 
but I really think it would be necessary before we could call it a "new SI".
