Uhm Sven,

could it be that you broke the default build system by taking out all
Makefile.in's and replacing them with incomplete Makefile.am's? I guess
it would have been better to remove old stuff only after the new stuff
works. Not that I care anymore, as for me cmake works well. ;-) BTW, I
added the test suite to the cmake project file. Since I prefer
out-of-tree builds (which should also be possibly with automake once you
converted to it), I need to figure what is the best way to get the data
files to the dest dir.

Beside that the only feature missing in the cmake build is building the
static library and I have to investigate how to do it in a nice fashion.
(Building both, static and shared libs at the same time with cmake isn't
trivial, if you don't want to to recompile all sources...)
