I do _like_ the idea. There is one issue which may be a big problem
with using existing LGPLed code, however -- licensing. I gather that
the PS2 doesn't do dynamic linking? If that's the case, then the
current licensing of the OpenAL code will probably be incompatable with
your needs. (IANAL -- for more information on the LGPL, see
http://www.gnu.org/copyleft/lgpl.html)

Anyone can read the entire repository anonymously. Granting of write
access works on a "distributed-trust" system. What normally happens is
that someone is making enough high-quality contributions through someone
who already has write access that I'm asked by _that_ person (the one
with write access) to add the new contributor to the write list. There
are now about ten people with write access.
